Random Business

First, I have a question for my bookish friends: How long do you give a book to impress you before you throw in the towel? How bad does it have to be for you to give it up? What if you intend to read it some other time?

Also, I have discovered interlibrary loans. Yay! I have requested The Broken Kingdoms and Cold Magic...they should be in by the end of this week. :)

It is exam week but...meh. Priorities. :P

Happy Halloween!

I'm sure you can all tell that I am back in hardcore school. I have a test every week and every day is full to the brim with classes/clinical. With that and trying to get things straight for the wedding next year, my reviews have suffered. I am still working on Angelslayer, it's just going slower than anticipated. Much slower.

That's the thing about school. You never really have any free time because there's always something you should be doing. Also hanging over my head, in addition to the tests, is a 20-30 page paper.

The good news is my venue is booked for my wedding, I got through the first clinical and will be done with the serious clinical paperwork this week, and I've gotten all my information together to write that horrid paper.

Today is also the last day of the RIP V Challenge. I met my goal, Peril the First, but I didn't complete my entire list unfortunately. Whenever I have a chance, I plan on visiting more of my fellow participants.

Either way, Happy Halloween, Happy Samhain, Happy All Hallow's Eve. Hope yours is more exciting than mine :)

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson is waiting for me at the library!!! I thought I would never get through the list but it's HERE.

Totally nerdy how excited I am, but yesterday when I picked up Blameless, The Way of Kings was just sitting there. 20 percent off to boot. I picked it up, and it was a good ole "doorstop" fantasy book, my favorite sort: the long ones that take forever to finish. I had to drag myself out the door to keep from paying for it, even though it was only a matter of time before it came in from the library.

The Red Tree by Caitlin R Kiernan also shipped, which I am adding to my RIP Challenge. It looks absolutely terrifying so I'm hoping I'll be able to sleep while reading it. I don't do well with scary books or movies. :P I'm waiting for The Hunger Games as well, but I don't anticipate seeing that one for awhile.

Also, I got an idea for a little meme I might do every Wednesday called Wishlist Wednesday, wherein I will discuss recently wishlisted books of mine. I've got about 50 so far, so I'm thinking it could be fun. :)

I've got so much to do, I just don't know if I'll get around to my schoolwork. Haha.

Almost feels like cheating...almost.

Muahahahaha. I was looking through my calendar and checked out some of the books being released. Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings really caught my eye, and it occurred to me that perhaps the library might have it.

Lo and behold, 6 copies are on order. I am 6th in line for a copy.

I did the same thing with Prospero in Hell by L Jagi Lamplighter (sequel to Prospero Lost). Luckily it's just me waiting for that one.

Yes, I vowed to read all the books on my shelf before I got something from the library again. After this batch, I swear.

Meanwhile, I'm going to read either The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks or Fires of the Faithful by Naomi Kritzer. But choosing one is hard.
